Course description:

Strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, currants and gooseberry:

1.      Origin and early development. Botany and plant morphology. Pollination. Fruit development. Propagation. Climatic and soil requirements. Establishment - training and trellising.

2.      Soil management and weed control. Pruning. Nutrient requirements - fertilisers. Irrigation.

3.      Fruit maturation, harvesting and storage. Cultivars. Planting systems. Hydroponic cultivation of strawberry.
